Introduction

The Centre for Adult, Continuing Education and Extension (CACEE) established in 1980, is a premier Centre with academic status under the University of Kerala. The Centre concentrates its activities on all the three dimensions of higher education viz., Teaching, Research and Extension. Currently, CACEE is deeply involved in continuing education and regular courses.

Major Achievements

• NLM – UNESCO Award 2005 for the outstanding Departments / Centres of ACEE in India
• UGC selected the CACEE as Nodal Agency for monitoring the Departments / Centres of ACEE Karnataka & Kerala.
• MHRD selected the CACEE as National External Evaluation Agency for evaluating Literacy/Post Literacy/CEP/JSS.
• Provided academic and research support to the Literacy / Continuing Education movement in Kerala.
• Strived to fulfill the social obligation of CACEE by –
  • Introducing need- based Continuing Education courses to the educated and employed
  • Supporting the Literacy movement through academic, research, material development and training programmes
  • Ensuring visibility to SC/ST, OBC and Minorities students and youth through appropriate training programmes and courses
  • Reaching out to the community through extension and outreach programme/s and disseminating knowledge
  • Undertaking research to explore areas of University - Industry, University - community, University - Health interface
  • Broadening Lifelong learning perspective through inter-University collaboration and discourses
  • Enhances the placement potential of students
  • Personal / Telephone Counselling to students, parents and Community
